Aconitum napellus

Aconite is from the plant Aconitum napellus, it is a poisonous plant. It was used as a poison for arrows; the name comes from the word “acon”, which is Greek for dart. It is also known as wolf’s bane, blue rocket, monk’s hood and friar’s cap.

It is used by homeopaths for the onset of acute respiratory infections like colds and the flu. It has also been used to treat eye and ear infections.  It is also used for anxiety states like restlessness, fear, phobias, palpitations, panic attacks and the fear of death.

The infectious diseases that are treated by aconite are often accompanied by high fever, restlessness and fearful agitation. Often homeopathic remedies match emotional symptoms with physical symptoms. A person who is restless, fearful or has anxiety may respond to aconite when he or she has an upper respiratory, eye or ear infection.

Indications: Acute, sudden onset of infection, panic attacks, fear of death, complaints caused by shock or exposure to cold winds.
