Brown Rice
Cooking brown rice takes time, about 50 minutes. If you cook it with extra fluid (about 25% more than the directions call for), for a little longer than the directions say, it comes out very tender, just drain the extra fluid before serving. Cook it with a little chicken broth or bouillon and it will taste very good without having to add butter. You can also chop vegetables, such as onions or pepper, to cook with the rice to make it more interesting.
