This is a very tasty dish.  It can be eaten as a meal or can be used as a spread by those who are absolutely devastated by the idea of not eating butter.

1 cup chickpeas
juice of 2 lemons
2 cloves of garlic
1/2 cup tahinni

Soak the chickpeas overnight and boil them until tender (about an hour).  Place them in a food processor and add the lemon juice.  Push the garlic through a garlic press and add it to the mixture.  Add the tahanni.  Puree in food processor.  Serve as a  dip with whole wheat pita bread. Note: You can make a low-fat version of hommus or baba ghanoush by using 1/4 cup of tahinni.
