Research appearing in the International Journal of Impotence Research (Nov-Dec;19(6):564-7) shows that pomegranate juice may be beneficial for men with mild erectile dysfunction. The double-blind, placebo controlled study looked at 53 subjects with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction. Their erectile dysfunction was evaluated with two questionnaires, The International Index of Erectile Function and the Global Assessment Questionnaire. This was a small pilot study and while the results were not statistically significant, the researchers concluded that the men consuming the pomegranate juice did experience improvement and larger studies may show statistically significant results. The improvement was attributed to the high antioxidant activity of pomegranate juice.
