The subjects were given 300 mg. of phosphatidylserine each day for 12 weeks. Supplementation with phosphatidylserine was associated with significant improvements in memory recall, memory recognition, executive functions and mental flexibility. Total learning and immediate recall also improved. In addition, the subjects also experienced significant reductions in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The authors conclude, “This exploratory study demonstrates that SB-PS may have favorable effects on cognitive function in elderly with memory complaints.” Additional research is warranted.
